Northern Mongolia is one of the most beautiful areas of the country with millions of evergreen trees, lofty mountain peaks, trout filled streams and lakes, and dense pine forests, meadows blanketed with flowers and air filled with songs of different birds. Here, the bird’s symphony never ends, keenly enjoyed by all the consensus beings that are lucky to inhabit these inspired places.
Lake Huvsgul lies within boundaries of the Huvsgul National Park. The area of Huvsgul Lake, raised well above sea level, is 2760ms. Its length is 136 km and width 36.5 km. The outflow from Huvsgul Lake drains into the Eg River, then the Selenge River and finally reaches Lake Baikal in Siberia. This lake is revered to all Mongols and is known as "Mother Sea". Many Mongols are proud to call this lake as "Blue pearl of Asia ". Untouched by industry and modern urban life, the Huvsgul Lake’s water is unbelievably clean. The scientists have announced that Lake Huvsgul contains two per cent of world's fresh water resources. This is a place in Mongolia where one can get sense of total unspoiled wilderness. The area is paradise for outdoor travelers and there are plenty of room for activities like hiking, birding, fishing, horseback travel and kayaking.
Tsaatan - is a nation, who keeps reindeers, which inhabitants in the northern part of Mongolia. Usually they live in high mountains in taiga, which are very difficult to reach them. In winter time Tsaatang people move with their reindeer herds to their farmsteads high in the mountains, closer to stars and then only helicopters can reach them. During 70 years communist tyranny this nation could keep their tradition, culture and identity. However, depending on their population minority it is running the danger of disappearance of the nation at present time. The main food of Tsaatang is reindeer milk product and meats of wild animals hunted by them.
